Create an Even marketing campaign for Afropunk Summer 2020, Brookyln. Capturing the vibrant energy and diversity of the event for everyone to enjoy.
The first Afropunk festival consisted of four days of film screenings at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and live musical performances in downtown Brooklyn. On the fourth day, festival attendees decided to throw a picnic in Fort Greene Park, and that’s how Afropunk was officially born.
I truly began understanding the necessity of creating a safe space for Black people who routinely found themselves in predominantly white spaces. Afropunk invites openness and community by replacing that feeling of simmering anxiety with an overall feeling of acceptance.
